Share Your Feedback: Community Housing Goals

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

These community housing goals were created in partnership between Watertown’s Community Preservation Committee, Community Preservation Coordinator, and project consultants – and are based on public input received from the public forum held in January, the online survey and this website, and from stakeholder focus groups held in March. When finalized, these goals will be incorporated into the Community Preservation Plan and the CPC will use them as a general guide when considering applications for funding.

Watch the video to learn a bit more about CPA, this project, Watertown’s community context, and how these goals were created, as well as their purpose (the SAME VIDEO appears on every page).

Note: The Webinar Q&A event has been rescheduled for Tuesday June 30 at 6pm. See "Key Dates" to the right to register!

Community Housing Goals

  1. Support income and demographic diversity by funding the creation of housing based on documented community needs.
  2. Support the Town’s status of 40B Safe Harbor by creating additional units that are eligible for the Subsidized Housing Inventory.
  3. Preserve long-term affordability for existing income-restricted housing units.
  4. Support local preference for affordable housing created through CPA funding, under limits of the law and regulations set by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
  5. Support the creation of affordable units through adaptive reuse (especially historic structures) and creative infill development.
