Share Your Feedback: Open Space Goals

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

These open space goals were created in partnership between Watertown’s Community Preservation Committee, Community Preservation Coordinator, and project consultants – and are based on public input received from the public forum held in January, the online survey and this website, and from stakeholder focus groups held in March. When finalized, these goals will be incorporated into the Community Preservation Plan and the CPC will use them as a general guide when considering applications for funding.

Watch the video to learn a bit more about CPA, this project, Watertown’s community context, and how these goals were created, as well as their purpose (the same video appears on every page).

Note: The Webinar Q&A event has been rescheduled for Tuesday June 30 at 6pm. See "Key Dates" to the right to register!

Open Space Goals

  1. Expand, preserve, and restore existing open space throughout the community for improved benefit and use, particularly along current and future trails and paths, the Charles River, conservation land, and ponds.
  2. Increase and improve access to and connectivity between current and future open space resources.
  3. Where possible, preserve or restore wild and natural areas, native species, and wildlife habitats.
  4. Support climate resiliency and protect neighborhoods by expanding natural resources to mitigate the impact of flooding and climate change.
